Research Assistant Program

At the beginning of each semester, the IBRC recruits and interviews undergraduate applicants for semester-long volunteer research assistantships with various social science faculty and graduate students. Read below to learn more.

Independent Research Project

Enrolled undergraduate and graduate students can use the IBRC to start their own independent research project at anytime in the semester! Visit the Start Your Research page for more info.

Volunteer Research Assistant Matching Program

  1. Learn to organize and conduct research studies involving human participants.
  2. Network with graduate students and faculty who share similar academic interests.
  3. Learn to use research technologies and software programs.
  4. Learn how to enter, check, code, and run basic analysis on data.
  5. Sharpen communications skills.
  6. Gain exposure to new ideas and knowledge in the social and behavioral sciences.
  7. Explore existing academic interests and develop new ones.
  8. Please note the positions are unpaid; instead, students agree to volunteer their time in exchange for research experience.
  1. Be available to volunteer at least 8 hours per week.
  2. Be able to commit to volunteer for an entire semester (16 weeks).
  3. Have a strong interest in the social and behavioral sciences.
  4. Have a willingness to contribute to all aspects of research projects.
  5. Be able to communicate with people from all walks of life.
  6. Have a positive attitude.
